From Confidence to Connection: Debbs Fitchew on Starting a Business at 63 and Loving Every Step

Hot Stories Speaker Spotlight: Debbs Fitchew Shares Confidence, Connection, and a Passion for Italy

At July's Hot Stories networking event in Cambridge, we welcomed Debbs Fitchew, a vibrant and passionate entrepreneur who proves it's never too late to start something new.

After starting her own business at 63, Debbs now thrives as a representative of Utility Warehouse, bringing people not just savings—but a sense of connection, empowerment, and support. Her energy on stage was infectious, and her story deeply moving.

Dancing, Duolingo & Doing What You Love

Debbs Fitchew

Debbs began by sharing the things she’s most passionate about:

  • Italy – She’s a Duolingo regular and aims to reach conversational fluency by next year.

  • 🎉 Strictly Come Dancing – A longtime fan and junior medal winner, Debbs shared her love for dancing: "First one on the dancefloor, last one off!"

  • ✨ Utility Warehouse – Her business and biggest confidence booster. "It’s changed everything for me," she said with heartfelt emotion.

Why She Loves What She Does

Debbs isn’t just in business for herself—she’s in it to connect, grow, and help others. She highlighted how joining Utility Warehouse gave her purpose, community, and a platform to serve others through savings on everyday services.

With a twinkle in her eye, she reminded us all that business is about knowing each other’s backstories:

"Let’s have one-to-ones. Let’s find out about each other’s passions. That’s how we move forward and help each other."

Debbs is a shining example that it’s not about age or background—it’s about energy, heart, and willingness to grow.

She warmly invited the audience to reach out for a chat, share stories, and support each other through real conversations.
