At July's Hot Stories networking event in Cambridge, we were delighted to welcome Kim Ellam, founder of Kim's Purfect Pets and passionate advocate for high-quality, loving animal care.
Kim’s heartfelt talk combined warmth, humour, and professionalism as she shared how her lifelong love for animals has shaped a business that truly treats pets like family.
From Family Pets to Full-Time Passion
Based in Burwell, Kim runs a dedicated pet care service offering drop-in visits, home care, and specialised reptile boarding. Whether it’s a dog, guinea pig, cat, or axolotl, Kim brings a deep understanding and genuine affection to each visit.
Her own home is a vibrant sanctuary for animals—from playful dogs like Orla and Brodie to her reptilian crew that includes crested geckos, chameleons, and a bearded dragon named Wilbur.
A Growing Focus on Reptile Boarding
During her talk, Kim highlighted an exciting area of growth: reptile boarding. She explained how her team has recently built bespoke indoor and outdoor enclosures for tortoises and other reptiles, complete with UV lighting, basking spots, digging areas, and bathing trays.
