When your life changes in an instant, what do you do with the second chance?
That’s the question Scott Dwyer, founder of Powered by Purposes, answered after surviving a near-fatal accident. A collapsing scaffold left him with multiple life-threatening injuries: broken legs, ankles, spine, shoulder—and a head trauma. His survival? Only possible thanks to the swift response of Magpas Air Ambulance.
Rather than retreat, Scott turned his pain into purpose.
While recovering, he pledged to push 100 miles in a wheelchair throughout May, raising nearly £6,000 in just one month—the cost of two life-saving air missions.
But Scott didn’t stop there.
“I thought—what more can I do?”
He’s now on a mission to complete 300 miles, with a bold new target: £100,000 raised for Magpas. Support has poured in from sponsors like Toyota and Universal Building Specialists, and the message is spreading.
Scott will next be seen at City Fest on 20th June, where he’ll push 4.8 miles from Shelford to Cambridge City FC, man a stand, and speak to attendees at 1pm.
“Powered by Purposes is exactly that. It’s about doing something meaningful. About saving lives.”
