Cambridge City Football Club has been on a 12-year journey—one marked by perseverance, passion, and community. At the heart of this transformation is Alice Dewey, General Manager of the club, who shared her story with us in our latest speaker spotlight.
Founded in 1908, the club was once a fixture at Mitcham’s Corner in central Cambridge. But after losing their ground, they operated without a permanent home for over a decade. That changed in November, when the club opened the doors to their brand-new stadium in Sawston.
“This was a deeply emotional moment,” Alice shared. “I’ve grown up in this club—it’s more than just football. It’s family.”
Today, Cambridge City FC hosts over 18 teams, including youth, men’s, women’s, and two power ability squads. And with matchday attendance growing from 200 to over 700–800 fans, the momentum is only building.
This month marks another major milestone: City Fest, a 5-day community celebration packed with events like quiz and bingo nights, a beer festival, a business showcase, and unique networking opportunities including five-a-side matches and even garden networking.
Alice encourages everyone to attend from 18–22 June, especially Friday, when businesses can network, present their services, and hear from speakers including Ricky Williams.
📍If you miss City Fest, don’t worry. The club continues to host monthly networking events and matchday experiences open to all.
